From agent to lender

Before I focused fully on mortgages, I spent 12 years as a Realtor. Every agent has a list of “preferred lenders,” and I had one too. But when I looked closely, there usually wasn’t much that was actually preferred about them. My buyers got the same process, the same last-minute surprises, and the same stress as everyone else.

So I set out to build what was missing for me, both as an agent and as a buyer myself. Brave Home Loans was created with one goal in mind: take the very best care of our referral partners and the buyers they trust us with.

Why we’re called Brave

BRAVE stands for Better Rates And Verified Eligibility, and the second half is where we’re different. Most lenders wait until there’s a signed contract before they spend money on the checks a loan needs to close. We do that work up front: employment verification, a real review of your credit, and rapid rescores when they can help your score. That way buyers and agents know where they stand before they fall in love with a house.

I like to say everyone loves a surprise, just not with their mortgage!

All in on Houston real estate

In 2015, my wife Roxie and I opened our own RE/MAX franchise and brought that same mindset to the brokerage world. We wanted to give our agents more value than any other brokerage could: real tools, training, resources, availability, high-end offices, affordable commission plans, and the most recognized brand in real estate. That total package helped us become the fastest-growing RE/MAX brokerage in the country.

Along the way, we’ve flipped more than 50 homes across Houston and the surrounding areas, and we own more than 20 rental properties today. We’re all in on real estate, and we’re passionate about helping families experience what homeownership and investment property can do for them.

Our family

I grew up in Sugar Land, and Roxie grew up in Katy. We met at Texas A&M University in a master’s program focused on real estate. The program was built around commercial real estate, but we both fell in love with residential. Today we’re raising four kids, ages 2 to 10, right here in the Houston area.
